ST is a 14-year-old female who had recently been diagnosed with Visual Snow Syndrome when she first came to our office. Her symptoms included constant static, floaters, night blindness, double vision, light sensitivity, headaches, and tinnitus (ringing in the ears). She described a concussion that had occurred about 4-5 years prior.
Many patients who experience Visual Snow Syndrome have static-like vision, and vision appears to be in colored pixels, rather than a smooth surface. This can become debilitating, especially for children who are in school, making it much more difficult to read and learn. Oftentimes, patients with Visual Snow Syndrome also have difficulty focusing their eyes and using their two eyes together as a team.
ST completed 5 weeks of Syntonic Phototherapy, which reduced some of her symptoms and dramatically improved her ability to use her two eyes together as a team. Shortly after completing Syntonic Phototherapy, she began a program of in-office Vision Therapy. After just 12 weeks of Vision Therapy, she reported that the colored pixels were less noticeable, she has less visual fatigue, eyestrain, and that reading is becoming much easier. Her testing improved significantly from 3 months prior.
This is a case of just one of many examples of how we have been able to help a patient with Visual Snow Syndrome. If you or someone you know is suffering from Visual Snow Syndrome, please contact our office at 732-679-2020 for more information.
